Taking Action Against Trafficking

Freedom Sunday

On July 2nd, 2017, we will join in a collaborative approach to ending modern slavery through a day of worship designated to focus on the issues of modern slavery and human trafficking – we call this day: Freedom Sunday.

Churches of any denomination are welcome to join the Wesleyan Church in a day of shared observance. Churches, prayer groups and individuals participating in Freedom Sunday are encouraged to plan events such as special prayer gatherings, entire worship services dedicated to the issue, Bible study meetings, or other activities.

The goals of Freedom Sunday are to:

  • Raise awareness and understanding about modern slavery
  • Worship and praise God who is the author of freedom
  • Celebrate what God is doing to set the captives free in our communities, across country, and around the world
  • Unite with other churches on this day of observation
  • Pursue the mission of God in thought, word, and deed
  • Move into action informed by prayer and scripture, catalyzed by the Holy Spirit

WHI’s encourages our supporters to speak to your pastors and church leadership about incorporating a Freedom Sunday observance into your congregation’s annual calendar of events.

Human Trafficking Awareness Month

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and every year WHI makes it easy for you to become a abolitionist in the fight to end modern-day slavery.

Here are a few easy ways you can join the fight:

Pray

In partnership with the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST), WHI has prepared a prayer guide to help you spend a week in prayer. Start by joining believers all around the world on Human Trafficking Awareness Day, as we ‘Challenge Slavery’ through a day of concentrated prayer.

Prayer events are being held across the country - find one near you. Can't find one close by? Host one yourself! We've prepared a Prayer Guide to walk you through the steps of hosting your own prayer event.

Educate yourself

The better you can understand human trafficking, the better equipped you'll be to fight it. WHI has compiled helpful information to get you started on your educational journey. Visit our resources page to find even more and read examples of real life stories to be moved into action.

Build Awareness

In partnership with FAAST, we've even created anti-trafficking posters for you to share! Hang them at places such as truck stops, public parks, bus stops, schools and churches.

Give

World Hope International is at the forefront of the movement to eradicate human trafficking in Sierra Leone and Cambodia, and your gifts directly strengthen our ability to rescue and restore survivors of slavery. Please see more on how your partnership supports our holistic approach to human trafficking here: Emergency Aftercare for Survivors of Slavery and Prevention and Education.
