United States

The Problem

Domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST) is the commercial sexual exploitation of anyone under 18 years old in the United States through buying, selling, or trading their sexual services. Forms of DMST include forced prostitution, pornography, and other sexual acts for monetary or other compensation like shelter, food or drugs. Victims of DMST come from all socioeconomic backgrounds, though most susceptible to sex traffickers in the United States are pre-teen and adolescent girls, particularly those who have run away or are homeless as well as those with a history of physical and sexual abuse.

WHI's Solution

“Hope Haven” is a ministry created by World Hope International (WHI) and Hephzibah Children’s Home (HCH) to securely house and assist girls aged 12-17 who are survivors of DMST. Hope Haven focuses on the provision of trauma counseling, spiritual healing, life skills, education and confidence-building.

For more than a century HCH has been serving the needs of children and families who are homeless, orphaned, abused, and neglected. Its passion is driven by Christ’s command to “offer a cup of cold water” in Jesus’ name and to provide loving, caring, and professional service to those who are in need.

The Impact

Hope Haven is providing safe, secure, and undisclosed residential services for the safety of girl victims of trafficking.
